Today Soong Ching Ling’s middle level teachers taught open classes. Let's take a look at what's going on in Little Mole and Bear.
Around us, plants are everywhere. Some grow under the ground, some on the ground, and some above. IK4B‘s teacher Gong used an activity that connected the sounds and story of "splat-thump" to different vegetables that we can find. Using sounds for clues the students discovered many new plants.
IK4A teacher Yin brought picture book, “The Bear's Tail”. The story is based on the emotional growth of the bear. In the beginning, the little bear liked his own tail but soon envied all of his friends' tails and disliked his own tail. In the end the bear learned to love with his own tail again. Though the story the children were able to see the changes in feelings, and learn that being one’s self is best.
After class, the teachers exchanged ideas and feelings on how to encourage the children to express themselves boldly and clearly, and made a summary discussion of today's open class lesson.
