In today’s English open class done by Lulu the children explored extreme weather. This matches with the IEYC theme “Weather Wonders”, and this week’s topic of storms. Storms can be scary but they are a part of nature. Today, the students were able to look at and learn about tornados. Tornados are a result of stormy weather and are very dangerous. Children are very fascinated by the nature of tornados.
The children looked at various forms of weather and took some time to learn about tornados. They were able to explore and try making their own tornados. They took bottles to spin them and make a tornado in water, practicing a spinning motion. They also had a chance to draw and express what they know about tornados.
After the lesson the English teachers held a meeting to discuss the class and teaching practices they observed. The teachers had a lot to say during this collaborative time and shared many great
ideas to use in their own classrooms
