In today’s English open class the children had a chance to learn and recite a Christmas story. Lily of IK5A taught a story that incorporated a lot of English vocabulary and phrases. The children had a chance to act it out and had a lot of fun re-telling the story. Stories are a great way to connect different facets of learning, which can improve English speaking, reading, and comprehension.

In the afternoon, the English teachers met to discuss the lesson. They expressed how great it was to see a class where children actively role-played and practiced their English in a practical way. This was a good reminder for all of the English teachers that stories are a great way to teach English. While we may not think that Christmas connects to IK5 unit of “To the Rescue”, but with the story of helping others we learn that anyone can be a hero to the rescue.
