The English teachers met to discuss the past months learning within the IEYC unit. The teachers demonstrated what the students have been learning for the month of December using student work, classroom materials, and anecdotes.

IK5 and IK3 shared their examples of using stories, writing, and actions to teach the children about superheroes in the “To the rescue” unit. The children were able to learn about superheroes and what they do. They also learned about everyday heroes, like firefighters and police officers. IK2 taught about the differences between superheroes and regular people through the clothing that they wear.

IK4 taught various stories from the “Once Upon a Time” unit. The children studied these stories in English and were able to learn new words and phrases for stories they are familiar with. They used role-play and art to re-tell the stories that they enjoyed.

These meetings between teachers help teachers to not only express their own ideas and materials but to reflect on their teaching of the unit. With the successful end of the December units, we will continue teaching with new ideas in January.
