Soong Ching Ling International Kindergarten Changzhou held an open class this morning, March 22, in the field of English. The English teacher Ivan taught a lesson about “objects and animals found in the story.”

SCL hosts open classes each week to strengthen teacher’s methods and promote the exchange of experiences among teachers at the school. Kindergarten children are very interested in learning about their community. 

Ivan designed an interesting and joyful class that kept the children’s interest. Using TPR (Total Physical Response) and other methods, the children reacted very enthusiastically! 

The children had to find the new words and objects in the story after leaning the new words regarding the topic of the day (1 by 1 the children had to repeat the words and slap the flash card).  After that a recap of the new words, followed by the next game (holding up the flash card, and saying the wrong word on purpose, testing the reaction of yes it’s correct or no it’s wrong from the children). 

After the classes, the teachers held a meeting to discuss the objectives, key difficulties, and teaching procedures. The teacher humbly accepted the suggestions and all the English teachers discussed ways they could improve in the future.
